The graveyard of untaken online courses is filled to the brim with good intentions.
Our highly optimistic former selves are always certain that soon, we will have some time in our schedule and we’ll get to them then. But soon never comes. And the pile of unattained achievements just gets bigger and bigger.
So I decided to do something about it once and for all.
Rather than try fitting in a few online courses here and there while working full time, I’m flipping the script. Starting January 2022, I’ll be “going to school” full time, pursuing my cobbled-together degree of courses I’ve wanted to do for some time, while putting work on the backburner and only doing the bare minimum needed to pay my bills.
It’s unorthodox, I know, but for someone like me – who struggles to focus on more than one thing at a time – it’s absolutely necessary.
So what will I be studying?
Well, that’s the best part! I’ve picked a few areas of study that are complimentary to what I do now and the direction I want to go in the future. Specifically, I’ll be studying these topics:
- Web Development (code + no-code)
- Web Design (UI, UX, etc.)
- Spanish (I know the basics, but I want to achieve fluency)
- Cyberpsychology (aka how the Internet is affecting our brains)
- Project Management
You’d probably not find any university degree that brings these subjects together, but that’s what makes it so appealing. I get to use resources provided by some of the best around the world to create a program that’s uniquely beneficial to me. What’s not to love about that?
I hope others will see this and be inspired to start creating their own dream degree, and of course, take the time to actually pursue it.
For now, I’ll be selecting the specific course and planning my “curriculum” (using Notion, of course) but I’ll keep you updated on my progress once I get started! Can’t wait!
